Forecast summary:

Some sunshine to start but clouding up with risk of some showers or showery rain during the day. Some sunny periods later. Light winds from a fairly mild S-SW’ly direction, perhaps gusty later.

Weather

A fairly settled period leading up to the day though a few heavy showers at times but probably staying a little above average temperature wise for the end of July. Probably not too bad a day on the 31st itself for the Lancing area. It may well start reasonably clear but with some mistiness down in the Arun valley but after some warm sunshine, cloud soon developing, enhanced by the South Downs, to give the risk of moderate showers at times, more especially in the late afternoon over plcceas like the Firle Beacon. A low/moderate risk of these becoming rather prolonged in the afternoon. Some sunny periods at times though too, mainly early and late. Temperatures near or slightly above the late July average. ____________________________________________________________________

8am: 14C Noon: 20C 6pm: 16C 

Max: 22C (the maximum, around 2pm).

Current risk assessments -of rain/showers 65%, -of heavy rain/heavy showers/thunder 20% -of severe weather (heavy hail, severe gales, local flooding) 3%

Winds - between SE and S’ly at 15-20 mph gusting 35mph

Humidity- Moderate/low early on (65%) but increasing during any more lengthy showers, feeling damp at about 80% (mod)

Ground state- damp with some rather heavy rain showers in the week leading up to the day.

Special comments- moderate/high pollen count likely

Some sunshine to start but clouding up with moderate risk of some light rain or showery rain by noon. Some sunny periods later. Light winds from a SE’ly direction, perhaps gusty later.

Weather

A rather unsettled period leading up to the day with some heavy rain and showers at times and probably staying a little below average temperature wise for mid August. Probably not too bad a start on the 15th itself for the Chew Magma area. It may well bet reasonably clear with some warm sunshine in the morning with a little mist down on the River Chew but cloud soon developing, with rain moving in by noon; the risk of moderate rain at times, more especially in the late afternoon. A low risk of this becoming rather prolonged and heavy in the afternoon especially up on the higher ground near Chew Hill. Some sunny periods at times though later as the cloud breakls up by evening. Temperatures near or slightly below the mid August average. ____________________________________________________________________
